Incense
Incense is a large scale bamboo art installation created for a temple in Taipei. The work reinterprets the traditional ritual of incense burning. Locally sourced Taiwanese bamboo is heat bent and woven in multiple layers, and translucent textiles are added. The spiraling form recalls the movement of rising smoke. The installation measures 3000 millimeters in width, 3000 millimeters in depth and 4000 millimeters in height. Visitors can move around and beneath the structure and observe sunlight passing through the bamboo weave.
Incense Bamboo Art Installation by Ching Ke Lin was recognized as an exceptional illustration of communication design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Incense Bamboo Art Installation was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in Fine Arts and Art Installation Design in 2026. The A' Fine Arts and Art Installation Design Award is an international, jury-voted, fair and ethical design prize that honors superior design of sculptures, paintings, installations, photographs, drawings, mixed media works, ceramics, art objects, craftworks and more.
