Zen

Zen is a handmade paper quilling artwork made for wall decoration. Paper quilling is a technique in which coloured paper strips are curled and folded into circles, curves and wavy lines, then glued onto cardboard to create a three-dimensional surface. Zen is built from coloured paper strips one centimetre wide, rolled into large and small coils and arranged by size, shape and colour contrast. Many folding and curling methods were tested to obtain gradient colours in paper. The framed piece measures 300 x 400 x 15 mm.

Pop Star

Pop Star is an art installation and view platform based on the geometric shape of the icosahedron. The work is built as a steel structure measuring 15000 mm in each direction. The form is derived from the compound eye of an insect, enlarged to a scale beyond normal human visual reading. Visitors can enter the central area and look out over the surrounding fields. From the outside the volume appears solid and imposing, while the inner space feels quiet and enclosed. Pop Star was designed in Beijing in 2019 and completed in Shanghai in 2020.

Wind Crystals

Wind Crystals is an outdoor art installation built in Budai County, Taiwan. The work recalls the local salt industry through forms based on salt crystals. Mahogany wood is cut at two special angles to create tapered polygonal frames, which are joined into a truss structure that can be extended freely. Only two component types form the whole body, so the parts are prepared in a factory and the on-site assembly time is kept short. The installation covers 24 square meters and turns with the sea breeze, following light and shadow along the coast.

The Glimmer

The Glimmer is a tape art installation applied to a train in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Nearly 110 square meters of glow tape cover the outside of the train, forming murals that show the sea, the ports, the mountains and the buildings of the city. The tape absorbs sunlight during the day and emits light at night, so the train becomes a moving lantern without electrical power. The interior is decorated with luminous foils and changing lights. The installation was created for the Taiwan Lantern Festival and applies several tape art techniques.

Alive

Alive is a kinetic art installation created for public interiors, offices and other public spaces. The movement of water, the source of all life, is the main inspiration. The base structure is made of MDF and holds a small, silent motor. The covering is made of neoprene with 2000 plexiglass details attached. The motor stretches the fabric and moves the small details clockwise in slow circles, creating a calm rhythm. Alive follows biophilic principles, which link contact with nature to better well-being indoors. The installation measures 1200 by 100 by 1200 millimeters.
