Flaming Bloom
Flaming Bloom is an art gazebo placed in a public park in Guangzhou. The structure takes the shape of a large flower and shields pedestrians from strong sunlight. Rising five meters high, the flower forms a gate that visitors can walk through. The dome is built from twisted stainless steel units developed for the project. One face of each unit is a mirror surface and the other face is painted red. The curved mirrors reflect the surrounding scenery, so the reflected images change as visitors move around and through the gazebo.
Flaming Bloom Art Gazebo by Wendi Wu was highlighted as an innovative illustration of communication design by the A' Design Awards. Flaming Bloom Art Gazebo received the Bronze A' Design Award in Fine Arts and Art Installation Design in 2022. The A' Fine Arts and Art Installation Design Award is an international, jury-voted, fair and ethical design accolade which rewards exceptional design of sculptures, paintings, installations, photographs, drawings, mixed media works, ceramics, art objects, craftworks and more.
