Ice Core
Ice Core Visualization is an art installation that shows the relationship between carbon dioxide levels and global climate. The installation is made of eight acrylic tubes filled with layered gel wax. Each tube is 8 inches in diameter and 3 feet long. Each wax layer represents average data for a thousand-year period, covering the last four hundred thousand years in total. A greyscale scheme shows the variation of carbon dioxide. A second scheme uses red for heat and blue for cold to show temperature variation.
Ice Core Art Installation by YINGRI GUAN has been highlighted as an outstanding illustration of communication design by the A' Design Award & Competition.
